You may, or may not, have noticed the new Quick Options Bar in ARCHICAD 20:
By default, this is shown to the bottom of each window in ARCHICAD 20, with the content varying slightly depending on what type of window is open (Plan, Elevation, Detail or 3D etc).
If you cannot see the Quick Options Bar - go to Window> Show Quick Options Bar:
The Quick Options Bar was added to ARCHICAD 20 to allow the Quick Options Palette to be removed from the Work Environment and allow more screen space for alternative controls. You can still use the Palette if you prefer - it is available from Window> Palettes> Quick Options.
The Quick Options Bar (and the Palette) allow you to click on a setting or attribute and ‘quickly’ change to a different option.
For example, if you want to change the Pen Combination that is set for the current view, clicking on the Pen Settings will display a list of the other available Combinations as shown below:
However, the best feature of this Quick Options Bar is not the speed at which you can change settings - but in the ability to quickly get to the controls behind each of the Attributes or Settings in the bar.
For example, if you want to get to Layer Settings you can click on the icon to the left of the visible Layer Combination name as highlighted below:
The same is true for any of the shortcuts on the Quick Options Bar:
This saves having to hunt through drop down menus or remembering shortcuts… and is always at the bottom of the screen to quickly get to.
